Sleeping Beauty
We can hardly believe it, but Beia is getting close to outgrowing her bassinet and her three-in-one cradle. These are the two places that she sleeps—the former in our bedroom at night and the latter in the main room during the day. With this in mind, we've started to transition Beia into sleeping in her crib. It hasn't been as straight forward as we thought it would be.
Steve first attempted this on Sunday as she always falls asleep so nicely ON HIM! This time, when she fell asleep, Steve gently transferred Beia to her crib...only to be brought back into her room minutes later by her wailing, wide awake. Our nanny, Cindy, tried again yesterday and had the same results. We're not sure why the crib seemed to bother her, or if Beia has some sixth sense about where she is at all times. Does she not like the mattress? The sheets? The location? The size (small baby, big bed)? Her preference, clearly, is to sleep ON people...not in a crib!
Today was my turn, and I'd like to report initial success. I tried several things. I lowered the shades. I turned on the white noise machine. I stayed in the room. And I read to her. Of course, it could have been any one of these things–or the combination of them together–and it probably helps that she didn't sleep much yesterday! Regardless, I'm happy to claim victory, if only for today...

Supermodel : Two Months
Today we had our two month appointment with our pediatrician, Dr. Jamila, at TriBeCa Pediatrics. Although TriBeCa isn't the closest pediatrician to us, we really like their community focus and laid back approach. They also have a good reputation and, on a nice day, not a bad walk away from us. And they have Saturday appointments.
Anyway, along with our laundry list of questions for the doctor, we were really looking forward to Beia's weight check. This is the most eagerly anticipated part of the visit for us, since being "near preterm" Beia has always been on the small side. Prior to each visit we speculate how much she'll weigh and then high five each other if she reaches the imaginary target goal we've set for her. At our last visit two weeks ago, we took an unofficial weigh—in of 8.5lbs and were beyond thrilled. We had hoped for 8lbs, so this was better than we imagined. For this visit we were shooting for 9lbs. Beia really impressed us though with her 9lb 4ozs—HIGH FIVE! Although she's still only in the 6th percentile, her length puts her in the 67th percentile. Therefore, she already has a promising career as either a basketball player or supermodel...

The Beia Bean
As of Tuesday, November 13, 2012, we have a new addition to our family—Beia Appel Rubin. She arrived a month early and we're only now, eight weeks later, beginning to start to figure things out. Sort of. One thing we've determined, is that this could be a good time to refresh, reinvigorate, and kick start our blog anew. So with that in mind, this is our first post for the new post-partum edition of InnExperience (and luckily the name is still as appropriate as ever).

Finally a Rug
Following a two year search for a rug and some false leads, we now finally have a rug in place. We had originally thought to go with a looped shag rug from Room and Board, but after seeing this woven hemp and metallic suede rug from Serena & Lily our minds were set. We're loving how this works with everything else we have going on in the room while adding some subtle color and sparkle. Let's just hope it's durable as Dibi already had some fun playing with the nubby texture while we unrolled it.

How Many is Enough?
Because I'm a sucker for those "SALE!" emails, we stopped by Restoration Hardware to peruse their July Fourth Holiday Sale. In addition to the extra duvet cover and shams we DID plan on purchasing, we also found a neat throw pillow that would work well on both our couch and bed. Not that we needed an extra pillow for either... but it was on sale... and I do love the vintage French vibe of the whole thing. For now this will sit on our bed, but it could just as easily move to the couch one day too.
